Price Transparency Rules for Hospitals, Group Health Plans, and Insurers

The following is an interesting article regarding Federal Government Transparency Rules for Hospitals and Group Health Plans.

The Final Rule for Hospitals will be effective January 1, 2021.  The Proposed Rule to bring greater transparency across the health care industry was issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, Labor and Treasury on November 15, 2019.

The summary of the articles points out that the government believes that price transparency and choice are important factors in addressing health care costs.  Included in the Final Rule for hospitals is that they display at least 300 “shoppable services” in a consumer friendly manner.
